Description

I found this tree which looks like it's been there for a long time. I thought it kind of looked like a fallen star.

When I first read your comment, I was wondering how a tree could look like a star -- then the image loaded and I was blown away! Nice composition. It doesn't have much contrast on my monitor though... would like to see that.

Nice composition and subject...I think it needs some more contrast!
But overall a good shot.

Interesting subject and the overall shot is very well composed. The image is in need of more contrast. I'd adjust the levels to darken the shadows and perhaps the midtones as well. Beyond that, very nice.

You sure this isnt some artsy fartsy sculpture that the council paid for? Looks like an artsy fartsy sculpture to me by one of those art student pricks!

LOL Very unusual Glenn I agree about a little bit more contrast but nowt else apart from that. Very good.Weird!

A good subject!! The color is missing something. You might try this in B&W with increased contrast. Just an idea!

Thank you all, most apreciated.

Andy I looked over it I couldn't see a small brass plaque any where It's all rottern on the other side though.

It really looks like, if it came from outer space and crashed into earth years ago :)

Very good eye to spot the subject!.....looks a little overexposed to me......some work with levels ,Shadowhiglights and middle tone contrast may help.

Nice capture Glenn, as Carlos stated, maybe a tad over-exposed though I find this adds a freshness to a decomposing composition. The subject reminds me of the base of the trunk of a tree in New Zealand called a Rata... seeing this image reminds of a Rata trunk as seen through the vertical perspective.

Cool find. Since the colors are a bit washed-out I'll agree with Gary's suggestion to make this b&w. Ñïçê ŵōŕķ¡¡¡¡ (thumbup)

Thats England for you

I desaturated it to the point were there is still some very slight colours left. I found it more interesting than just a full desat, it looks much better than full colour.

Thanks for all of your imput. (thumbup)

would have loved to see this as a 2-image panorama...needs more space on the right:)
but its a good capture, and i like the compo...did u try a b/w version too?;)

The subject is interesting, but my opinion is that you would have had nicer results playing more with the colored version than desaturating it. And I agre with the more space.

I'd say it's a good description, could make for a fun photominip, definately a good capture, you have a good eye for subject matter.

I keep coming back to this 'cos I can't quite pin down what's bugging me.
The main feature is fascinating and very powerful. I think your choice to do a partial desaturation was spot-on, the colour is integral to the image but the full colour was to busy. Can't see it as a b/w, their isn't enough contrast between the main image and background.
Still feel the background is too imposing at the moment - but I think Cigaro's suggestion of extending the composition to the right might do the trick - give it more of a landscape feel.

This is weird) If I paint such a thing and say :"Hey!This is a tree!" Nobody would believe me!
But you've got to have nice imagination to see this things on your way
