Description

Another photo from the same series as Stark. This building is made from thousands of these geometric grates, up close these are huge. From a distance they are hardly noticeable. If you look close you can see very subtle colours in the metal.

Good shot, I love the contrast and composition! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the frame, I think that it would be better if there were also black borders at the top and bottom :)
Great one anyways!

Cool, but it really needs more esthetics like composition quality. So loose the part where we see the sky.

cool shot! nice gray tones, cool lines :)

I wouldn't have spotted it (Artooner) but cropping out the sky is very effective - makes the corner of the building look as if it's running to infinity.
On the other hand I do like the triangle caused by the empty sky - it creates another geometric shape so.. swings and roundabouts.
I love the effect of minimal colour in a photograph and this has gotta be one of the most B/w Colour photos I've ever seen!
Strong lines, tight composition, and a delicate capture of tones.

Art is right!
I think the composition is much stronger if you crop below the sky line.

Thanks all.

moser hasn't everything?
although some more than others :)

great angle... it is leading my view over the hole picture.. great one...

Avatar Juro

 06/21/06 @783

Nah, why would I get pissed off by something like that?

I even made an additional download with the sky chopped out, just for you. Personally I think it's stronger with the sky because as Traff said it's a geometric shape in itself.

Avatar ARTOONATOR

 06/21/06 @786

Darn.
But seriously. If you crop it just a bit lower than that it'll be massive. The geometric shape of the sky won't get interpreted as such because of the position. If the position of the sky would have been exactly in the upper left corner it'd be different.

Nice image! I too was going to suggest croping out the sky. By doing that you would have all the lines converge into one point creating a neat effect.

Oooo I love both versions ..but I personally preffer the one with the sky in it ... great job

i'm with abstractor! cut it so there is just a small triangle of sky, it makes it look like some crazy future sewage system, or a track for some space train...seriously.,

Great shot and compo!

I cut the sky down slightly, it does make it slightly stronger. Thanks for your input guys. (thumbup)

I havent got a clue what is wrong with keeping the sky in! Its a skyscrper and the sky is above it as it is above all skyscrpers lol. Looks fine to me with the sky in it Glenn. Promising photographer it seems.

I cropped the sky out with my browser and I actually think it looks awful that way. I like the white space at the top - if anything I'd say crop about 200px off the bottom.

I agree with Traff's consensus that "this has gotta be one of the most B/w Colour photos I've ever seen!" Nice work (thumbup)

It's funny that the lines feel confining, but yet they give a sense of ascending towards freedom. Great contrasts! +9/9

Great lines and clean shot...well done.

Avatar Cigaro

 06/25/06 @943

i say you should crop about half of the right part with that grid...to make it a more vertical compo...my oppinion...the rest is cool:)

Avatar SubtleDelight

 06/28/06 @072

I agree with Cigaro, just a personal taste thing though. This shot is still great, and it creates the illusion of quite an extremely high structure.......glad i'm not at the top lookin down :). Nice work.
